Historique :	Le premier tissage fut effectué vers 1689, d'après les cartons du peintre Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer (1634-1699), spécialisé dans la peinture de fleurs et sous la direction de Philippe Behagle. Cette tenture fut exécutée à un grand nombre d'exemplaires jusqu'à la fin du 17e siècle. Monnoyer s'inspira lui-même de dessins de l'ornementaliste Jean Bérain (1639-1711), dessinateur de la chambre et du cabinet de Louis XIV, ordonnateur des divertissements de la cour, créateur de décors et de costumes d'opéras et de carrousels.
